Information for Parents

PARENTS:  Please read the following and submit all required documents and signed acknowledgement form.

REGISTRATION
If your child’s name has an “INCOMPLETE” on the class list, please visit the VBS office in Room 104 and complete your registration.  You may be missing something simple like a picture.

Insurance:  Palisades Summer VBS is not responsible for medical emergencies.  Please provide a copy of your child’s insurance card if available.

Health Issues/Medicine:  If your child shows signs of illness, the emergency contact person will be notified immediately and will be asked to pick up the child.  Medication cannot be dispensed by Palisades Summer VBS staff unless a “Medication Release Form” is completed (only for medication taken on a regular basis by doctor’s order).

Pick-up and Drop-off:  Morning drop-off must be 8:30 AM.  Afternoon pick-up is at 3:00 PM.  Afterschool childcare is provided at additional cost.  Please fill out a form for afterschool childcare if you would like this option.

What is not allowed at Palisades Summer VBS:
-any electronic devices other than cell phones.  (Cell phones must be turned off during school hours)

Swimming Days:  On scheduled swimming days, please send your child with appropriate swimwear, towel and sunscreen.

Field Trips: Please make sure to send your child in the Summer VBS t-shirt on Field Trip Fridays.  No shirt=No field trip  There is no alternate program on Fridays so if your child is not going to the Field Trip please make plans accordingly.

Name Tags:  Name tags are mandatory on field trip/outing days.  There is an emergency contact number on the tag in case your child gets lost.  Also, if your child has an allergy it will be noted on the name tag.  It is recommended that the name tag be worn at all times but is not mandatory.  

Bagged Lunch Days
Please send your child with a bagged lunch on the following dates.
Friday, July 13
Friday, July 20
Friday, July 27
Friday, August 3 (Only Nursery to Kinder; Upper Grades at Mountain Creek)

Picture Day:  Friday, July 13
Please bring VBS T-shirts for picture day if they have already been distributed.  Most likely we will distribute T-shirts on this day.

Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten Field Trips:
On the following dates, please drop off your child’s car seat.  Please label each car seat with child’s name and class.

Last Day of Summer VBS: Lunch w/Parents and Presentations
Friday, August 10 is the last day of Summer VBS.  Parents are invited to have lunch with the students at 12 noon.  This will be a potluck lunch where each class will contribute to the lunch.  Parents can arrange how they will do this.  Lunch will be from 12-1pm and presentations will be from 1 pm to 3 pm.

When your child is sick..#
If your child exhibits any of the following symptoms, the child should not attend that day.  If the child shows these symptoms during the day, he/she will be removed from the group and parents will be called to take him/her home.

  • Severe pain or discomfort
  • Acute diarrhea
  • Episodes of acute vomiting
  • Elevated oral temperature of 101.5 degrees (F)
  • Lethargy
  • Severe Coughing
  • Yellow eyes or jaundiced skin
  • Red eyes with discharge
  • Infected, untreated skin patches
  • Difficult or rapid breathing
  • Skin rashes with fever
  • Skin lesions (open or bleeding)
  • Stiff neck

A child with the following contractible disease may not return to the program without a physician’s note stating that the child presents no risk to him/herself or others.
Respiratory Illnesses: Chicken pox, German Measles, Hemophilus Influenza, Measles, Meningococcus, Mumps, Strep Throat, Tuberculosis, Whooping Cough
Gastrointestinal Illnesses: Campylobacter, Escherichia coli, Giardia Lamblia, Hepatitis A, Salmonella, Shigella
Contact Illnesses: Impetigo, Lice, Scabies, Shingles

*If a child is exposed to any of the above while at the program, parents will be notified in writing.
